Book Clubs That Actually Run

If you have ever tried to run a book club over WhatsApp, you know the pattern: spoilers in the main thread, schedules that live in someone's head, and a poll that dies in a sea of emoji reactions.

We built club tooling the way organisers actually need it — not as a chat room with a book title pinned at the top.

Everything in one club hub

When you create or join a club on The Reading Club, you get a dedicated home with tabs for the things that keep a group reading together:

  • Books — set the current read, queue upcoming titles, and mark completed books.
  • Schedule — chapter milestones with optional due dates so everyone knows the pace.
  • Next-read polls — nominate a shortlist, vote, and close the poll to promote the winner to CURRENT.
  • Events — schedule video calls or cafe chats with meeting links and Going / Maybe / Not Going RSVPs.
  • Quotes — a collaborative board for the passages your club wants to keep.
  • Members — roles, invites by link or username, and join-request approval for private clubs.
  • Chat — realtime messaging with a General channel plus chapter-gated channels that unlock as members catch up.

Above the tabs, a group progress panel shows where everyone is in the current book — no pressure, just good company.

Spoiler-safe by design

Chapter-gated chat channels sync with your personal library progress. Reach Chapter 8, and the Chapter 8 channel unlocks. Moderators can always jump ahead to facilitate — everyone else stays safe until they catch up.

The same idea powers discussion threads across the feed: mark a thread as spoiler up to a chapter, and readers who have not got there yet see a blur instead of the ending.

Discover clubs near you

Clubs can be tied to an Indian city. Set your city on your profile, then filter Discover by “near me” to find public clubs in your area — a bridge to the local meetups and vernacular hubs still on our roadmap.
